About

As an acknowledged leader in the industry, PEC prides itself in providing innovative and efficient precast systems.

In business since 1978, PEC’s vast industry experience allows our talented staff of engineers and technicians to be fluent in all aspects of the precast concrete industry. From helping set up and operate plants to communicating directly with the field, we can handle the most challenging structures.

Our team includes several licensed structural and professional engineers, and many industry veterans. Our group is well versed with both design and project management, as well as drafting and building modeling. The flexibility and experience of our team is what sets PEC apart.

At the inception of the project, two primary staff members are assigned. The Project Leader and the Project Engineer coordinate the job from beginning to end. This ensures that the unique requirements of the client are met consistently and entirely throughout the project.

Project Leader

The Project Leader is ultimately responsible for the execution of the project according to the needs of the client. They handle correspondence with the client and the external design team, and generate both erection drawings and connection details.

Project Engineer

The Project Engineer coordinates all engineering for the project including member design, lateral analysis, and connection design. They work in conjunction with the Project Leader to ensure that all design concepts are executed in the precast drawings and details.

Management

GERALD (Jerry) D. KING, P.E., S.E. – President
As president of PEC, Jerry is responsible for setting company direction while maintaining the core values that have served as the foundation for this company since 1978. Guiding a skilled team of engineers and technicians, Jerry has propelled PEC to a prominent position within the industry.

After receiving his Bachelor of Science Degrees in Civil Engineering and in Industrial Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), Jerry concluded his formal academic training by completing the Master of Science Program in structural engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Never straying too far from academia, Jerry still guest lectures at various colleges and universities throughout Wisconsin.
Prior to rejoining Precast Engineering Company in 1999, Mr. King was employed with a large UK based consulting engineering firm, working in both their England and New York offices. Having acquired a considerable amount of experience working with English and U.S. building codes in an international market, Jerry was then approached by an Australian firm to start up the engineering department in their US headquarters in Kansas City, MO. These two experiences provided an interesting exposure to a wide array of project sizes, design methods, client types, contract setups and work environments.

Since then, Jerry has returned to his precast roots. While most of his time is spent concentrating on the management of projects, Jerry is also involved with maintaining client relationships, contract review, and schematic front-end project work, including preliminary sales designs and value engineering. Additionally, Jerry has also played key roles in the production operations of precast manufacturing facilities within the Midwest.

Throughout his tenure, Jerry’s commitment to PEC has been defined by innovative value engineering solutions, practical design approaches, precise documentation, and effective project management. PEC has been involved with over 1,800 precast projects. Jerry’s dedication to the precast industry has solidified his position as a driving force behind PEC’s continued success and its renowned excellence in precast engineering.
